It was nicer weather today...still only a high of 49 though. I went to church, and was invited to go to some friends house for brunch, then that turned into brunch and watching episodes of The Office, then into brunch, The Office and ping-pong, then eventually we got hungry again and decided we should make dinner and then that turned into, let's make sushi rolls. So we went to the store and got stuff to make rolls, then saw some squid and thought, hey, let's do calamari too. So. we did.
It was soooooo good. Really, go to the store, if it's on sale, make it yourself, it's worth it. We got a pound for $6.
Fried Calamari
1 lb of whole baby squids
1 egg
1 cup flour
pinch of pepper
2 cups veggie oil.
Remove the quill from the squids. Cut the heads from the leggys. Rinse completely. Cut the heads into 1/2 in strips. Leave legs all together.
Then we made our own sushi cut rolls, and miso soup and chicken with peanut sauce... Man oh man, it was all so good. There was so much, and there was stuff left over to make even more. goodness. There was a lot of food, but there were 10 of us eating. Good times.
Luke and I were the rollers. We rolled 17 rolls. Here is a picture of the rolls we rolled.
Laugh. Enjoy. Make food with friends. Do the dishes together. Play crazy games and listen to good music. Remember that life is short and beautiful. Forgive as you have been forgiven, love as you have been loved.
First of all, I love the hair.
