click click bang bang.
I watched the entire movie tonight. I recommend that you see the movie if you get the chance. It's a tear-jerker. Buy the DVD -- Its one of the best documentaries I've seen, and you support a good cause.
I saw the movie tonight because one of the makers of the film is speaking at a graduation here tomorrow. It was a nice event in the local arts center. It was all catered and everyone there looked nice. Jackson is not entirely different than Beverly Hills. I feel out of my element here. I don't think that I was cut out to be around the really wealthy. Being happy about free food is in poor taste. Not growing up here is in poor taste. Drinking soda is in poor taste. Chatting about something other than mushroom gathering is in poor taste. I DON'T REALLY CARE your hoity-toity ways... I care about you. I already know that I'll be a failure at your conversation, but I try, because I want to know you. This must be how parents of teenagers feel.
I was chatting with Jack the other day. He came to fix the heater at the house and we started talking. I told him that I was new in town and he was telling me some of the things that I will soon learn. One of those things is that Jackson is very clique-ish. Visitors don't see it, because they just pass through. But the richies hang out with other richies. The ski-bums with ski-bums, the seasonal work, with other seasonal workers, and the families that have lived here for generations with other families whose grandpa use to hunt down on their ranch..... and they all don't like anyone else.
Now, granted I've been here all of what, 9 days (it's really crazy to think that I was living in Beverly Hills two weeks ago), but I can see what he means. .....But it's not all so bad as that, I have hope..... Give it some time, and I'm sure that my view will change. Part of me writes this so that I can look back and laugh about how I ever thought this way.
People are funny and weird -- myself included.
